I work evenings and usually when I get home I don’t eat until midnight. What are some good meals or snacks I can eat that won’t upset my stomach in the morning? I’m trying to eat healthier and bring food to work too :)

Definitely grapes. Or some greek yogurt and peaches. You wouldn’t know it, but Greek yogurt is extremely filling, healthy, low-fat if you buy the right kind, and will keep you full until breakfast.

@Cynch – really? Apples have caffeine? I must look into that.

When I get home late, I usually opt for an orange. Oranges are light and full of citrus goodness.

I usually eat popcorn late at night-it’s not too filling so you can still go to bed. Either that or whatever fruit I have lying around.

Essentially what you eat should optimize two aspects: healthy eating and promotion of sleep. The stimulation to sleep is derived from the presence of Tryptophan in the food (the same chemical that makes you sleepy after that yummy Thanksgiving turkey).

Here is an article that illustrates 10 healthy snacks to that will also help stimulate you to go to sleep:

Try making a fruit smoothie with just ice, orange juice, and fruit of your choice. I usually make one for breakfast and it’s a great/ healthy snack that keeps you feeling good and full(:
